A day just honoring the heart and our love is such a blessing.
Your hearts is the untold hero/heroin of your life. With every beat it reminds you that being “in love” is to be alive with every cell of our bodies. Every beat says, “Life-Love!, Life-Love!, Life-Love!”
When you were very young, everything you did and were made your heart swell, from playing, to drawing, to dressing up in front of the mirror, to getting hugs from your mom, to hiding and jumping out at a brother or sister, to looking in the mirror, to rolling in the grass, to holding your cat or patting your dog, to your bath, to swimming, to laughing… to well, just about everything. Being in love was not a thing, it was who you are. It was the gift you gave to everyone and everything in the world you touched.
Then as you got older you were told a terrible story that love was something you had to get from others and if they did not love you, or rejected you and your love, then there was something wrong with you, not them. This is when your heart got hurt. Over time love became the act of trying to be what others love, not what you love in you.
So just for today, and maybe for the next 40 days, make the choice to feel what it felt like as child to be “in love” with your life. In my writing and at the Rhys Thomas Institute I call this your “Secret Place.” Your secret place is your heart.
Your inner child is in there just waiting to be in love again, to play with your friends again, and to fall in love with life again and again with undying trust. This a hero’s journey worth setting out on.
Enjoy the day, and say “I love you” to everyone and everything, then look in the mirror and say it again.
