The biggest challenge you face every day is not your day, it’s the way you think!
I call this kind of self-sabotaging thinking, your Virtual Reality Trap where your mind creates images of your life that make it and the people in it appear to be problems. Problems that create stress in your life.
But… what if I could show you how your Virtual Reality problems that we have talked about on the previous videos is actually pointing you toward your highest potential?
On this video I will show you how to see the power in your problems!
(If you’ve missed any of the videos, not to worry, you can still watch them here.)
What if your problems and stresses in life had deeper meaning? What if they are not just neurotic thinking but instead are deeper pathways to see who you truly are and what your highest potential is?

My teacher Dorothy Martin Neville used to say, “The Greatest form of sanity is knowing your own craziness.” What she meant is that within the false virtual reality images in your head, that trap you into focusing more on the problems of daily living rather than the joy of living your highest potential in each moment, are actually clues to your deeper truth.
If you look really close at the list of “Problems” that you created doing the exercise in video #4, you may see that they have a theme. That theme is really important.
In my book “Discover Your Purpose: Using the Life Purpose Profiles To Unlock Your Hidden Potential And Live The Life You Were Meant To Live” (click here to get early order bonuses), I show you that there are 5 primary life purposes that you must have clarity on which one you are if you are going to get on the fast track to living your purpose, rather than the normal trial and error kind of self-discovery.
Those 5 core qualities also have specific patterns of behavior and ways of sabotaging you that create your personal flavor of your Virtual Reality Trap.
When you are able see those patterns as being a great way to see your highest potential is life changing you live in a world that you don’t have to waste any energy resisting!
Exercise
Go back to your list of Virtual Reality Problems list from video #4. If you did not do the exercise just take a few minutes and make a list of things in your life you struggle with in a chronic way. Get at least 20-30 of them. i.e. work, relationships, children, money, self-esteem, health etc.
Now look at your list of Virtual Reality Problems and see if you can put each one in one of these 5 categories.
- Thinker: Over thinking and the way you picture in your head creates anxiety and spinning your wheels and panicking or being stuck in paralysis by analysis. You are avoiding confrontation and trying to be invisible or may find yourself being a bit of a hermit and not connecting with others. There will be a lot of wheel spinning in your head and not very much action to solve the real problem. You may have skin issues and have digestive issues.
- Poor Me, emotional mess: Feeling overwhelmed emotionally by life and can see other people and life as heartless and cruel. You may feel rejected or unloved. Hiding your sensitivity. All you want is a peace and quiet but you live with loud people. You may have fibromyalgia like pain that has no obvious reason and feel tired all the time. You may have migraine headaches.
- People Pleaser, slave: You may feel like a doormat in your relationships and see a picture in your head of a world where you don’t count and everyone else’s needs are more important than yours. You seem to be the only one who cares enough to help out in family situations. Your life is not your own. You will tend to have weight issues.
- Rule Keeper, perfectionist: You push yourself way too hard and have a tough inner critic and you create pictures in your head that see no matter how good you do in the many projects you are achieving at, you always feel like you should have done better. Perfectionism is your nemesis. Other people are so frustrating because they tend to be lazy. You may have lower back problems, head aches and tight muscles and overuse injuries.
- Enforcer, seducer: You have a tough time trusting others long term knowing that everyone eventually betrays you. You may be self-sabotaging in the area of relationships and work and health with large positive and negative swings every few years. You may find yourself in battle or arguments that you have to win but they are never your fault. You can get your way by being strong or by being seductive when you want something bad enough.
Your virtual reality problems and images in your head that create your stresses in life may relate to more than one of these. But one will be what we call your “Defense” that takes up most of your energy daily.
